This temple of worldwide opera, is one of the most famous and charming buildings in Milan, thanks to its rich history, tradition, and fame.
Its facade is simple and with little decoration, because initially it would overlook a narrow street, when Piazza alla Scala had not been opened yet. Its splendor is all hidden in the inside, in the main hall with its boxes and galleries, covered in a bright red silk damask and in its stage, with its perfect acoustics.
The history of the theater and its greatest promoters, among which Giuseppe Verdi, Eleonora Duse, Giacomo Puccini, Maria Callas and Arturo Toscanini, can be discovered further with a the visit to the museum of the theater. Please refer to this visit.
